The Royal Christening - Part 3



Every moment of the royal family member’s lives get people’s attention effortlessly. Special occasions of their lives from birth to death are entered to the history as well. The Baptism or Christening is the main incident of the royal family member, after the birth.

Peter Philips


Peter Philips, son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Philips was christened in the Music Room of Buckingham palace on 22 December 1977 by the then Archbishop of Canterbury Donald Coggan. He was named as Peter Mark Andrew Philips.

His godparents were his uncle Prince of Wales, the Rt. Rev’d Geofffrey Tiarks, Captain Hamish Lochore, Lady Cecil Cameron of Lochiel and Jane Holdemess-Roddam.

Zara Philips


Zara Philips was christened in the private chapel at Windsor Castle on 27 July 1981 by the Dean of Windsor, the Rt Rev. Michael Mann. She was named as Zara Anne Elizabeth.


Her godparents were her uncle the Duke of York, the Countess of Lichfield, Mrs. Jackie Stewart, Colonel Andrew Parker_Bowles and Mr. Hugh Thomas.

Prince William of Wales

Prince William of Wales was christened in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace on 04 August 1982 by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Robert Runcie. He was named as William Arthur Louis. Prince William had been christened on the day when the Queen Mother celebrated her 82nd birthday.

Prince’s godparents were King Constantine II of the Hellenes, Lord Romsey, Sir Laurens van der Post, Princess Alexandra, the Duchess of Westminster and Lady Susan Hussey, Lady in Waiting to the Queen.

Prince Harry Of Wales

Prince Henry of Wales was born on 15 September 1984 and he was christened in St. George Chapel in Windsor Castle on 21 December 1984 by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Robert Runcie. He was named as Henry Charles Albert David.

His godparents were his uncle the Duke of York, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones, Lady Vestey, Mrs. William Bartholomew, Br. Bryan Organ and Mr. Gerald Ward.

Princess Beatrice of York



Princess Beatrice was born on 08 August 1988 and she was christened in the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace on 20 December 1988 by the Archbishop of York. She was named as Beatrice Elizabeth Mary.



Her godparents were Viscount Linley, the Duchess of Roxburghe, the Hon Mrs. John Greenall and Mrs. Henry Cotterell.

Princess Eugenie of York

Princess Eugenie was born on 23 March 1990 and she was christened at the church of St. Mary Magdalene, Sandringham on 23 December 1990 by the Bishop of Norwich. She was named as Eugenie Victoria Helena. She was the first royal baby to have a public christening.

Her godparents were James Ogilvy, Captain Alastair Ross, Mrs. Ronald Ferguson, Mrs. Patrick Dodd-Noble and Miss Louise.

Lady Louise Windsor

Lady Louise, eldest daughter of Prince Edward & countess of Wessex was born on 08 November 2003 and she was christened in the private chapel of Windsor Castle on 24 April 2004. She was named as Louise Alice Elizabeth Mary Mountbatten-Windsor.

Her godparents were the Lady Alexandra Etherington, the Lady Sarah Chatto, the Lord lvar Mountbatten, Rupert Elliott and Mrs. Urs Schwarzenbach.

James, Viscount Severn  

Viscount Severn son of Prince Edward & countess of Wessex, was born on 17 December 2007 and he was christened in the private chapel of Windsor Castle on 19 April 2008 by the Dean of Windsor, Bishop David Conner. His christening gown was a newly made replica of the gown originally used by his great-great-great-grandaunt, Princess Victoria, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria, in 1841. It has been worn for most royal christenings since then and the old gown has now been preserved. He was named as James Alexander Philip Theo Mountbatten-Windsor.

His god parents were Denise Poulton, Jeanye Irwin, Alastair Bruce, Duncan Bullivant and Tom Hill.
